Kolcraft Thanksgiving
This week is a week of Thanksgiving joy for Kolcraft. We have some great crafts, recipes, contests and more this week. To kick off our Thanksgiving week, employees from Kolcraft are sharing their favorite family Thanksgiving traditions.
Kolcraft Thanksgiving Traditions
- We go around the table and say one thing we are thankful for this year. We especially love hearing what the littlest one has to say! –Kim
- Early in the morning the kids and dads in our family and our friend’s family take a walk in the woods. –Colleen
- We volunteer at a homeless shelter serving Thanksgiving dinner. It reminds us to be grateful for what we have. –Brent
- We light a candle at our Thanksgiving table in gratitude for the love of family members who are no longer with us. –Michelle
- It’s father son bonding day! We eat too much (guilt free) and watch 3 NFL football games! –Chris
- This Cranberry Salad recipe is one that my husband’s family has handed down for 4 generations. It’s very easy and it tastes good! –Carol
Holiday Cranberry Salad
- 2 cans whole berry cranberry sauce
- 2 apples
- 2 bananas
- 2 oranges
- 2 T. lemon juice
- 2 T. sugar (to taste)
- ½ c. chopped walnuts (if desired)
Slice bananas into lemon juice and mix lightly to keep bananas from turning brown. Peel and section oranges and cut into ½ “ pieces. Core apples and coarsely chop. Stir fruit together and fold in cranberry sauce. Add sugar to taste and stir in nuts if desired. Make one day ahead for best blending of flavors.
This recipe can easily be adjusted up or down. The ratio is 1 to 1 on the cranberries and fruit. Adjust the lemon juice and sugar accordingly.

What to do:
- With the following supplies, make a Thanksgiving craft.
- You can only use the listed supplies to make your craft. You don’t have to use all the supplies, but you can’t add any.
- Your craft can take on any Thanksgiving theme and can be decorative or functional.
- Feel free to have your children help and note that when you enter the contest.
- Take a photo of your Thanksgiving creation & add it to Kolcraft’s facebook page.
- Entries will be judged on creativity and thoughtfulness.
- Contest ends at midnight CST next Tuesday, November 22nd, 2011.
- A winner will be announced on Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011.
Supplies you can use:
- Empty toilet paper or paper towel tube
- Black marker
- Pipe cleaner (any color)
- Orange felt
- Yellow construction paper
- Red, green, brown crayons
- Googly eyes
- Glitter (any color)
- Glue, tape, and scissors

The Kolcraft 65th Anniversary Celebrates Sealy Crib Mattresses

Many of you have met Wally WonderBug & have fallen in love with his little adventures with Wanda WonderBug & Wilbur WonderWorm. Well, they have a new friend to introduce to you – Toby Turtle! Summer Bug Cupcakes
Summer Bug cupcakes made by our Kolcraft Kids
What you will need:
- Cupcakes
- Frosting
- Oreo cookies
- Twizzlers
- Butter knife to frost cupcakes (adult use only)
What to do:
- Bake cupcakes.
- Frost cupcakes in bug colors. Our Kolcraft Kids frosted them like the Wonderbugs, WonderWorm & Toby Turtle.
- Cut an Oreo cookie in half to use for the head.
- Frost over over cookie for the head.
- Make eyes out of frosting.
- Separate a Twizzler to make antenna and turtle’s “spots”.
- Crush the top of an Oreo cookie to fill in the spots on turtle’s shell
- Enjoy!

- Ranger Rick’s Geocaching is the ultimate adventure! See how many bugs you meet along the way!
- Bug nightlife – once it is dark outside, grab a white sheet & flashlight. Hang the sheet from a clothesline, fence, tree or some other tall object. Watch as bugs cover the sheet. How many different bugs can you and your kids identify?
