New Contours Tandem Stroller
We are proud to announce the newest addition to our Kolcraft family and want your help in naming it!
Early next year, we will be unveiling our newest Contours® tandem stroller – and we’d like your input on what we should name it!
The tandem stroller is designed to fit both babies and toddlers, and will include some of our most popular features including reversible seats, height-adjustable canopies, a large storage basket and the ability to fit most infant car seats. But most importantly, this new tandem stroller will be a full 10 lbs. lighter than our current tandem stroller – weighing only 34 lbs.!

At Kolcraft we believe in working hard and playing hard so last Friday we celebrated Halloween Kolcraft style. 
Each department decorated and had yummy treats. From 11-1 everyone trick or treated at each others departments. We had a lot of fun interacting with each other and enjoyed some pretty amazing treats from homemade candy apples to chocolate and beyond!

New Events Happening At Kolcraft
Our blog post is a little late today because Kolcraft was out and about in Chicago with Wally. We know, we know, we keep talking about Wally Wonderbug. We just can’t help it because he is so cute!
Our day started by meeting Meri-Margaret from the National Wildlife Federation. What an amazing woman! If you missed our interview with her, you can read it here. The National Wildlife Association has some AMAZING events coming up which has Kolcraft VERY excited. (Stay tuned for more on that at a later date.) Wally and Meri-Margaret hit it off and are BFF’s now. We captured their meeting on camera, but since Wally hasn’t had his official debut we had to protect his identity.

Wally and I then took a stroll over to the Disney Imagination Center. It was an amazing morning. Wally and Jiminy Cricket were inseparable. (Must be a bug thing.) Wally loved that he could spend time coloring. He was bashful around the princesses, but you can see he picked their page to color.

Kolcraft’s Fall Fruit Winning Recipe for Your Family
Kolcraft Fall Fruit Smackdown
Kolcraft believes in manufacturing the best in innovative baby products and one way we fuel our creativity is through food smackdowns where we pick a theme, cook up a storm, taste test and vote.

The theme of this last smackdown was Fall Fruit. It was hard to pick a winner since we had a variety of treats ranging from fall fruit crisps, upside down apple pie, apple strudel and pumpkin chocolate chip cookies to name a few. The winner was Bonnie in our fashion department who made the yumalicious (yes, that is the correct word to describe this recipe) Apple-Pecan Cheesecake!
Bonnie shared her recipe with us. We know it will be a hit with your family too!
Ingredients
- 1-1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 4 pkg. (8 oz. each) cream cheese, softened
- 1-1/2 cups packed brown sugar, divided
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 cup sour cream
- 4 eggs
- 3 apples, peeled, chopped
- 3/4 cup chopped pecans
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
Directions
- Heat oven to 325°F
- Line 13×9-inch baking pan with foil, with ends of foil extending over sides of pan. Mix crumbs, butter and 2 Tbsp. brown sugar; press onto bottom of pan.
- Beat cream cheese, 1 cup brown sugar and vanilla in large bowl with mixer until well blended. Add sour cream; mix well. Add eggs, 1 at a time, mixing on low speed after each just until blended. Pour over crust. Combine remaining brown sugar, apples, nuts and cinnamon; spoon over batter.
- Bake 55 min. or until center is almost set. Cool completely. Refrigerate 4 hours. Use foil handles to lift cheesecake from pan before cutting to serve.
- Enjoy!

Kolcraft Receives JPMA Award at KIDS Reception

Kolcraft was very excited and grateful to have received an award from the JPMA for being a founding member of JPMA in helping to set and maintain safety standards for the baby product industry for the past 59 years.
Kolcraft’s President, Tom Koltun, also spoke about the importance and reward of companies working with KIDS. KIDS is a non-profit organization that helps families in distressed situations. Often when parents think what they want for their children, they think of their child having a healthy, happy future, but for some parents all they can hope for is some help to get their baby the essentials like a bottle or a bassinet. Kolcraft has been very active with KIDS in order to bring them hope for a future.

Statement of Tom Koltun, President of Kolcraft
Good Housekeeping and USA Today Report That Stroller Hinges Can Injure Little Fingers
(Chicago, IL) October 11, 2010 – USA Today has published an article “Stroller hinges can injure little fingers” stating that the new issue of Good Housekeeping magazine contains a study that alleges 10 strollers have “danger spots.” Among the 10 strollers listed from popular baby stroller companies are the Contours Lite and Jeep Cherokee Sport.
The test procedures and the credentials of those who tested the products at Good Housekeeping are unknown. Kolcraft, however, complies with industry standards and testing including the following:
• Kolcraft has a design safety review process that uses risk assessment principles to ensure the safety of our products. These principles exceed requirements found in standard testing.
• The Contours Lite and Jeep Cherokee Sport strollers have been tested by 3rd party independent test labs and have been found to comply with all mandatory and voluntary ASTM standards.
• Kolcraft is a member of JPMA and all of our products comply with the JPMA requirements for testing.
Good Housekeeping never contacted Kolcraft nor did they return our calls to discuss their findings or to share the test they conducted. Until the report is released Kolcraft cannot directly comment on it.
