4th of July Flag Craft

Today we have more ideas to add to your 4th of July celebrations! If you have skewers (maybe in preparation for making a red, white and blue poke cake) then you and your kids are all set to make these easy 4th of July flags.

What you’ll need:

  • Skewers (or some sort of stick)
  • Paper
  • Glue
  • Paint, markers, crayons, etc.
  • Scissors

To start, cut your piece of paper in half horizontally (hotdog style, if you will).

Fold your strips of paper in half again, this time vertically, to create a crease to place your skewer.

Unfold the strip of paper and cover it with glue. Make sure to really get the crease so the skewer stays in place.

Place your skewer in the crease and fold one half of the paper over the other. Make sure to place the pointed end of the skewer inside the paper fold to keep everyone safe.

When the paper is glued and in place, let your children decorate their flag however they would like! Whether they want to paint, draw or glue shapes onto it, let them get creative with their red, white and blue masterpieces.

Enjoy waving these homemade flags at your 4th of July celebrations next week!
