Getting Outdoors To Prevent Breast Cancer & Win Baby Gear
There is a lot of pink in stores and across city skylines reminding us that October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. With a reported 40,000 women dying from breast cancer every year, we all need these reminders to take steps to prevent breast-cancer, to raise awareness for it and to do what we can to end breast cancer.
One thing that researchers have found helps prevent breast cancer (and many other ailments for that matter!) is to stay active and get plenty of exercise. These last few weeks we have been talking about the importance of our children playing outdoors in order to stay healthy and the best way to keep them healthy is by setting an example. We know it’s not easy to set aside time for exercise and that’s why we love the National Wildlife Federation’s website since it has so many great ideas on how to get outdoors & get moving as a family.
In solidarity with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we want to help jump start your road to getting active with a Jeep Baby Carrier giveaway! This baby carrier is perfect for getting fit while keeping baby close to you.
It’s easy to win!
- Simply check out the National Wildlife Federation’s website and leave a comment on our blog about what activity you are excited to try with your family.
- For additional entries, ”like” Kolcraft or the National Wildlife Federation on Facebook and make sure to note that in the blog comment about your favorite activity.
Getting outdoors & being active is a simple Tip Tuesday to a healthier you!
Contest ends on Wednesday, October 6th at 12 pm CST

I’d like to make a difference in my backyard to help make it more critter friendly. My kids could help. We could make feeders for the animals with a pinecone, peanut butter & bird seeds.

I have enjoyed reading the blog there is some very good information in here. Thank you for providing the link to the National Wildlife Federation too. There are some great ideas for exposing children to the joy of the outdoors and nature. I can’t wait to walk through my neighborhood and see if I can see any animal homes.
I would love to have Hike and Seek 2010, come to our state. I think children would love that.
I am looking forward to hiking with my family & wish there was an event closer. If they get more funding are they planning to expand it (hike & seek events)? Living here in New York State and all the beautiful Fall Foliage that surrounds us now, my husband and I have and will continue to take our 3 young children on nature walks and we go hiking through the trails at Mendon Pond Park. It is very important to us as avid outdoor people to teach our children at a very young age the importance of protecting our wildlife and we hope to inspire them to be passionate about it as they grow older as my husband and I are. Thanks so much for the chance to enter.
I have ”liked” both Kolcraft & the National Wildlife Federation on Facebook. My name there is Joanna Smith (joannaonthelake) and the activity I am most excited about is hiking and teaching our children about the importance of wildlife!

Thank you to everyone who participated. Stay tuned for more contests!
I like the ideas for creating outdoor wildlife habitats. We already practice sustainable gardening but I would love to add water features like a pond or birdbaths.
