Got Tandems?

March 18, 2010 Baby Products, Baby Strollers 43 Comments

Whether you have twins or more than one child who needs a stroller, you know the challenge of a “stroller solution” for multiples. I still remember blazing hot days at the zoo with my niece and nephew who both needed a stroller after about an hour of walking. We didn’t have a tandem so we would take turns carrying one while the other was in the stroller. After about 3 hours, adults and children were all cranky and needed a nap! I wish the Contours Options II Tandem was around back then.

The Contours Options II Tandem is the perfect stroller to give you the flexibility needed as a parent. For one or two kids- infant or toddlers- everyone has a great view in any direction with its reversible seats! It is the ultimate stroller with lots of options for your ever changing life style.

A few of the features I especially like:

  • Reversible seats! There are quite a few “seating” options for your children: both can face you, they can face each other, both can face forward, or they can sit back to back.
  • Not only are the seats reversible…they recline!
  • Easy trigger fold with convenient Free-Stand™ so the stroller can stand upright! (My poor car bumper would have appreciated the upright stand. I had so many scratches from the stroller leaning on it & of course falling over, all while taking paint off the car on the way down.)
  • Who doesn’t love a parent tray with cup holders? This one is new and improved with deeper, ventilated cup holders.
  • Adjustable canopy that can be raised or lowered to the height of your child (My absolute fave feature).

What are your “must have” features in a tandem?

  1. Wow! What a great stroller!! My must-have features when it comes to a double stroller are large enough canopies to shade the kids when it’s sunny as well as seats that recline independently. That way if one child wants to nap while the other one is awake, he/she can do so comfortably. :) Cup holders are also a great option, especially if there’s more than one.

  2. The seating options sound great. That would be really nice to have! My must have is a cup holder for me. Selfish? Probably but it is impossible to push a stroller and hold a cup at the same time!

  3. Beth,
We don’t think a parent cup hold is selfish at all. A happy mommy is a good thing & you only have so many hands to hold things right? :)

I want both seats to recline-to both have cup holders- and the stroller to be lightweight & stand up when you fold it! I would also like adequate shade for both seats & to have the option of placing the infant seat closest to the push bar also I do not want to have to remove anything to fold the stroller up oh and one more must have is that the childs footrest has to be deep enough & at the right angle for the child to actually use it. This stroller sounds like a great option for my many must haves!

  5. Julie, Night Owl Mama & Call Me Pretty,

I have this stroller and love it! It was the only one that would fit in the trunk of my car and I love how I can switch the seats around.

  8. Love this tandem! Is this a newer version? Is the fold improved from the last one? I would love to know how much it weighs too! Thanks!

    Thanks Anastasia!
This is a new Contours Tandem. It just came out this year. It is the same fold as the Contours Options Tandem. Without the seats (you take them off to fold) it weights 46 lbs. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

I like that the seats easily reverse to create 6 different stroller options. My twins are now 30…we had a stroller for 2 that faced each other, bid and bulky. This looks like this grandma of 4 can take it and go.

I am visiting after finding your sponsored tandem stroller on LIFE HAPPENS DURING NAPTIME BLOG. My sister in law had twins last summer and NEEDS to escape the house this spring! She could really use this! I love this model which is so open and has so many features! I am also (secretly) PRAYING for my oldest daughter to add to her family…she has an almost 10 year old and would love to have more children. I will be looking to buy new items and my favorite is the Sesame Street Tender Vibe bouncer. I would not have been able to FUNCTION as a mom (I have 6…three still at home) without the vibrations bouncer. In my opinion, was one of the best inventions since the WHEEL!
We have used MANY of your products through the years and also buying for grandkids and grand neices/nephews now. Your company ROCKS (and with some items like this, ROLLS too!) :) THANKS!

This stroller has many great features! But the reversible seating sounds amazing! I am a mom with 2 boys who are 23 months apart–and they just LOVE talking to each other (even at 8 months and 2.5!) and I can’t imagine how happy they would be to be able to face each other while we were out and about!!

I also enjoy your crib mattress’s and single strollers–I came over to the blog from “Life Happens During Naptime” and would love to win the giveaway for this stroller!!

    Christine,
Sounds like your boys are good friends even as brothers. :) That’s great. Thanks for visiting our site & blog. It’s wonderful to have you here. Good luck in the contest!

With 2 sets of twins I’ve been through my share of double strollers (6 doubles to be exact) for a tandem it must be able to steer well and turn without me feeling like a tractor trailer warning “caution makes wide turns”. A decently small fold would be nice, one that would allow it to fit in the trunk of a car without removing hoods or trays or seats. Enough footroom even when reclined for both kids and an easily accessible large basket are all things I looks for in strollers

    Aura,
You made us laugh with your “wide turns” comment. :) Sounds like you have had your share of strollers! Thanks for your feedback. Our stroller team appreciates it!

I am visiting from Life Happens During Naptime ~ I also like your Seseame street potty chair, who wouldn’t like to learn to potty with Elmo!

Welcome Stacy! Great to have you here. We agree – life is better with Elmo :)

  27. I saw your the stroller review on Life Happens During Naptime and came to check out your blog! As a mom of twins, I think the stroller is awesome. I also really like the Light vibes rocking bassinet.

  28. I’m hoping over from Life Happens During Naptime & definitely love this stroller! Mine will be about 17 months apart when Newbie arrives this summer, so I’m definitely LOVING the versality of this stroller! I also like the tiny steps 2-in-1 walker, so I’m hoping we get one of those in the near future as well! :)

Wow! All the features excite me, but I’d have to say that the two that sound really great are that it’s reversible and that it has deeper, ventilated cup holders.

Well, we had a bad experience with this stroller. The seat is small for older kids (I have a 2.5 year old, and she is not that tall), and the pins keep breaking and falling off. My husband had to tape handle bar so it wont fall out! And as for replacements parts – they dont even have our manufacture day in the options.
