Outside in the rain? Try these Family Friendly Rain Activities.

There is no reason to let the weather bring down your day. The weather today at Kolcraft’s corporate offices in Chicago is rainy. Fall is approaching, but we recommend trying a few of these activities to enjoy your rainy day today, or whenever it hits your neighborhood.

  • Puddle Jump! It’s time to get wet. See who can make the largest splash, get their boots wet, or jump across the largest puddle. One, two, three, JUMP!
  • Bring bath time fun outside: Take your favorite tub time toys outside with you. Rubber Ducky loves the outdoors. There are a ton of bath time toys that are made for the water.
  • Chalk in the rain? Have you used your chalk in the rain before? Chalk still works and creates a painting type form. Try it!

What are your families favorite outdoor rainy day activities? Let us know!

Such a perfect post for today! Rainstorms have kept us inside these last few days and I was worried about finding enough indoor activity fun for my niece who’ll be visiting this weekend. I’d never heard of chalk drawing in the rain, but that will be a GREAT idea for her. Thanks!

The rain doesn’t stop all activities in the pacific northwest because it does a lot of raining here. I also live at the coast where it rains and storms quite often. Walks and adventure hunts after a storm on the beach can find treasures which is always fun. Dressing for the outside activity is the key. Kids can enjoy a great warm bath after being outside. A great movie and hot cocoa and popcorn can be fun too in front of a warm fire. A great game could be played. So many things to be done and also letting the kids choose their activity. Rita Spratlen

Wow, chalk drawing in the rain! how cool… what a good idea. I know my daughter is going to love that! I think another great idea is getting inside a garbage bag and trying to slide down a grassy hill! hahahaa!! OK, maybe not a great idea, but it would be hillarious!

I used to love playing in the rain and make sure my kids get that experience. My 3 year old LOVES puddle jumping. She gets excited about wearing her Hello Kitty raincoat every time it rains. I have to try the sidewalk chalk in the rain, I never even thought of it.

I love playing in the rain as a child, I am expecting my first child in May and I know I will have fun with him or her when alittle older.

I have never thought of using sidewalk chalk in the rain!! That is genius. I am definitely gonna bundle my 4 year old up the next time it rains (which will probably be tomorrow!!) and take him outside to play with his chalk. Thanks for sharing! bekki1820cb at gmail dot com
