Crane Cool Mist Humidifiers Help Relieve Your Baby’s Stuffy Nose with a Smile!

Tuesday, Oct 26th, 2010 12:10 AM

Hearing your baby cough or trying to breathe through a stuffy nose is disturbing to any parent. Sinus congestion in a baby can also be a breeding ground for bacteria and secondary infections, including ear infections. Helping a baby with a stuffy nose and congestion won't just make them feel better, but will also help them get better faster. Cool mist humidifiers are recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics to relieve nasal congestion and cold and flu symptoms. Sometimes the best medicine is no medicine.

The FDA advises against use of any over the counter medication for children under 6 due to harmful side effects leaving many parents confused on finding a safe alternative when their children are sick. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends cool mist humidifiers, nasal saline solution and suction bulbs. Crane ‘s Cool Mist Humidifiers not only restore moisture to the air, easing dry coughs, sinus irritation, and common cold/flu symptoms but come with a friendly face that children will be happy to have in their rooms, such as Hello Kitty, SpongeBob, frogs, cows, elephants and a variety of other animals and shapes. The best part is Crane does not require a filter!

Children bear the brunt of seasonal illnesses, typically picking up six to 10 colds a year compared with the two to four colds adults get, according to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. The Centers for Disease Control chalks up 22 million school absences each year to colds alone.

One of the most important things when a child is sick is a good night’s sleep.  Crane offers just that, a peaceful night’s sleep. Crane Cool Mist Ultrasonic Humidifiers are whisper quiet, do not require a filter, runs up to 24 hours and has an automatic shut off for when the tank is empty.  The humidifier emits up to 2.1 gallons of moisture output a day.  Crane's ultrasonic cool mist humidifiers are safe for children because they do not heat the water with hot elements that could possibly burn children.

Crane’s assortment of child-friendly designs, are available at the same price as many standard humidifiers. Crane humidifiers have a suggested retail from $39.99-$49.99 and currently are sold at major retailers throughout United States (Target, Babies R Us, Bed, Bath and Beyond) and Canada. Visit www.crane-usa.com to see all of Crane’s products.

Kolcraft Launches Bazaarvoice Social Commerce Suite to Facilitate Customer Conversations That Build Engagement

Friday, Oct 22nd, 2010 12:10 AM

AUSTIN, TEXAS – October 25, 2010 – Bazaarvoice, the market and technology leader in hosted social commerce applications that drive sales, today announced that Kolcraft, a leading global supplier of baby gear and the number 1 manufacturer of crib mattresses, has launched Bazaarvoice’s entire social commerce platform to better engage customers as they research and shop across the web. The implementation includes Bazaarvoice Stories, Ask & Answer, and Ratings & Reviews, as well as the innovative BrandVoice™ and BrandAnswers™ offerings that allow Kolcraft customers to share reviews and answer product questions across a network of the world’s largest retail sites selling Kolcraft products. In this way, Kolcraft ensures that the voices of its most influential customers appear across the web – helping people make more informed purchase decisions about Kolcraft products wherever they are sold.

“Kolcraft is a family-owned company founded in 1946, and we have long had a loyal following of moms and dads who want to buy the best, and highest-quality crib mattresses, strollers, playards, highchairs and other baby products,” said Michelle Halm, Marketing & Communications Manager. “We chose to implement the entire Bazaarvoice social commerce suite because we’re committed to enabling our customers to share their experiences with our products in any way, on any site – whether they post a review of a stroller, answer a question about a play yard, or write a real-life story about how much their baby loves his crib mattress– and to share these opinions with their wider social networks.”

In particular, Kolcraft has seen great success with Ask & Answer, which allows customers to pose and answer specific questions about products. Because parents and caregivers are eager to uncover the most information possible about the gear they buy for their babies, many have specific questions about products they hope to get answered. With Bazaarvoice Ask & Answer, existing Kolcraft customers can share credible and expert information about products with prospective buyers – which not only has increased sales of certain products, but dramatically cuts down on calls to the customer service center. The wealth of content customers have created via Ask & Answer also serves as an important SEO tool for Kolcraft, helping the brand get found by Internet searchers looking for baby products.

“Kolcraft has a loyal following of customers that appreciate its high-quality baby products, and they are also a great example of a manufacturer who truly understands the power of social commerce to impact sales and improve customer satisfaction,” said Mark Riggs, Chief Client Officer at Bazaarvoice. “By allowing their customers to share opinions, write reviews, answer questions, and tell their personal stories, Kolcraft is putting the customer voice at the center of its business. Kolcraft has also taken the extra step to syndicate this valuable customer content across its network of retail partners – making sure that customers, no matter where they interact with the Kolcraft brand, get the information they need to make informed purchases.”

Good Housekeeping and USA Today Report That Stroller Hinges Can Injure Little Fingers

(Chicago, IL) October 11, 2010 – USA Today has published an article “Stroller hinges can injure little fingers” stating that the new issue of Good Housekeeping magazine contains a study that alleges 10 strollers have “danger spots.” Among the 10 strollers listed from popular baby stroller companies are the Contours Lite and Jeep Cherokee Sport.

The test procedures and the credentials of those who tested the products at Good Housekeeping are unknown. Kolcraft, however, complies with industry standards and testing including the following:

• Kolcraft has a design safety review process that uses risk assessment principles to ensure the safety of our products. These principles exceed requirements found in standard testing.

• The Contours Lite and Jeep Cherokee Sport strollers have been tested by 3rd party independent test labs and have been found to comply with all mandatory and voluntary ASTM standards.

• Kolcraft is a member of JPMA and all of our products comply with the JPMA requirements for testing.

Good Housekeeping never contacted Kolcraft nor did they return our calls to discuss their findings or to share the test they conducted. Until the report is released Kolcraft cannot directly comment on it.

co-hosting A Mom Is Born: The Virtual Baby Shower Celebrating a Woman’s Journey into Motherhood. Scheduled for Wednesday, August 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. CST, it is only the second virtual baby shower ever! This year’s shower will benefit the March of Dimes Missouri Chapter and the celebrant is expecting mom Virginia Kerr, the anchor on Channel 4’s early news show, Awake.

Last year’s virtual baby shower, hosted by MyMommyManual.com and the first of its kind, was successful in raising funds for Parents As Teachers and in creating online engagement among new and expecting moms.

Anyone with internet access can attend virtually, interacting in real time with Virginia and hosts via a live chat room during the online broadcast. The shower will be aired live on www.MomIsBorn.com

The focus of the shower is celebrating and honoring the transition of a woman to motherhood and how her friends and loved ones can support her during this exciting time. However, any mom will enjoy the event because the two-hour broadcast will feature great parenting tips and products.

Viewers (guests) will also learn how to personalize a Holding Hands bracelet. The bracelet is a symbol of the connectedness between all mothers and the strength moms can source from each other. It is an especially touching gift for an expecting mom to wear during her labor and delivery, as a reminder of the support she has from her closest women friends.

A limited number of Holding Hands bracelets will be sold during the event for guests to buy for a special mom or mom-to-be. A portion of the proceeds will go to the March of Dimes.

Top tips for new moms will also be shared, which are being collected in the week prior to the broadcast in exchange for an entry in the Mom is Born giveaway raffle. Raffle prizes have been generously donated by the shower sponsors.

Kolcraft’s “Extended Life” Baby Products

Thursday, Apr 1st, 2010 12:04 AM

Kolcraft understands that there are a lot of expenses that come along with parenting. For the first-time parent the list of baby “supplies” seems endless: diapers, baby clothes, bassinet, diapers, stroller(s), bottles, toys, bouncers – did we mention diapers? It can be overwhelming for any parent – experienced or not.

Kolcraft wants to help parents by giving them products that have an “extended life.” One of these such products is our Tiny Steps® 2-in-1 Walker. This walker grows with baby from an activity walker to a walk-behind walker bringing endless enjoyment for your child from infancy to toddlerhood.

Some features that we love about this new walker:

  • Easily converts from activity walker to walk-behind walker
  • Electronic music tray includes lights and music
  • Folds easily for travel and storage (we understand that space can be tight when you are trying to accommodate all your baby gear!)
  • Includes height adjustment for growing babies
  • Non-skid friction pads on base for child safety

All our walkers are JPMA certified. This new Tiny Steps® 2-in-1 Walker is available exclusively at Walmart for a limited time.

Kolcraft KIDS Operation Homefront helping military families with community involvement

Kolcraft, K.I.D.S and Operation Homefront of North Carolina are joining forces through a new program, Operation:ABC (All ‘Bout Children), to help families of those who daily put their lives on the line for our country. Through Operation:ABC, military families at Ft. Bragg will have the opportunity to receive a new Contours Perfect Fit high chair on December 18, 2009. Through this donation of 480 high chairs, Kolcraft, K.I.D.S and Operation Homefront hope to bring some financial relief to struggling military families.

Kolcraft, a leading baby gear manufacturing company based in Chicago, and K.I.D.S., a New York based non-profit serving children and families, believe it is imperative to give back to the community by helping those who are most in need. Both companies feel that a partnership with Operation Homefront is in alliance with their missions.

"On behalf of Kolcraft and Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc. (K.I.D.S.) we are delighted to be able to provide high chairs to the children of military families. We believe that families struggling while their loved ones are fighting to protect our country should have available to them all the resources they need to raise healthy and well adjusted children. We thank Operation Homefront for all it does to provide a secure and comfortable environment for our most precious citizens." Tom Koltun, President, Kolcraft Enterprises, Janice Weinman, President, K.I.D.S.

Operation Homefront has hopes of expanding Operation ABC to the Marine, Navy and Air Force partners in North Carolina. “North Carolina is especially busy in providing our country with thousands of trained brave military who are fighting in complicated and dangerous wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. With over 25,000 deployed in North Carolina and thousands of others preparing for upcoming deployments, we want to ensure to the families that we are here on the home front to care for their families”, says Jane Weaver-Sobel, President of the Operation Homefront of North Carolina. “These families deserve the amount of support equal to their sacrifice to our country”, she added.

Registration for the current program sold out in 24 hours. More events of distributing high chairs and other baby items will take place in 2010. Military families may check the website www.operationhomefront.net/nc or Facebook for future announcements.
