Count Down to Potty Trained

Are you a parent preparing to send your baby off to preschool? If so, potty training is probably something on your mind! Many preschools require that children are toilet trained before the first day, which can be stressful to think about if you haven’t yet begun potty training. Summer is in full swing and school will be here before you know it—if your little one isn’t potty trained yet and her school requires it, it is time to begin! Although the thought of this experience can be exhausting, potty training doesn’t have to be stressful or hard!  Make this exciting and rewarding experience a little easier by following a few tips:
  • Pick a day to start training and circle it on the calendar with a bright marker. Making your child aware that this is a special day and hopefully that will get them excited for this new step!
  • Think like a coach. Remember that you are teaching your child a new skill so be firm, but also encouraging.
  • Know when it’s time to stop. If your child doesn’t urinate or produce a bowel movement in 3-6 minutes, it’s better to stop and try later.
  • Reward accomplishments. Don’t forget to tell your child how proud of him you are! Whether you sing his praises or give him a special treat, they will know that this comes with a successful trip to the toilet.
With these tips in mind, all that is left is to choose a potty! Picking a potty is an essential step and can help your child enjoy the process. With a fun and interactive one, your child will look forward to this new challenge! Elmo makes potty training fun with the Sesame Street Elmo Hooray 3-in-1 Potty. This training potty resembles a real toilet with flush handle to help the child’s transition to an adult toilet easier. Your child is sure to love the interactive features and will feel accomplished by the new step they are taking!

Features we love:

  1.  · Flush handle with encouraging Elmo phrases and flush sounds.
  2.  · Waste cup removes easily for disposal and quick cleaning.
  3.  · Seat adapter removes easily for use on most adult toilets.
  4. Seat comes down and becomes a step stool.
The thought of tackling this milestone can be stressful, and the process is oftentimes a lot of work, but it is something all parents and children have to go through — so know that you’re not alone. The beginning of school is stressful enough without the added challenge of your child needing to be potty trained beforehand. With a fun potty and these helpful tips, you’ll be ready to send your little one off to school in no time!
